Why I Love Dubsado For My Creative Business
As a business owner, it can be hard to decide where to invest your money. There are seemingly a million things screaming for your attention - from courses, coaches, and education, to shiny new tools, software, and equipment.
That said, I firmly believe that your client relationship management (CRM) system is one of the best - if not THE best - investments you can make for your creative biz.
Your CRM is an investment in finally getting some time back in your day, it’s an investment in your clients’ experience with you, and it’s an investment in the overall health of your business over the long-term.
Dubsado is my CRM of choice (affiliate link) and frankly, there are way too many reasons for me to recap them all here… so I’m breaking them down for you Cliffnotes style.
It’s so pretty.
One of my favorite things about Dubsado is that it is super customizable. Everything you create in Dubsado has the potential to be beautiful and 100% on brand using their drag-and-drop editor. It goes way beyond plopping your logo onto a form and calling it a day. Use your brand colors, choose from a menu of font options, upload photos, graphics, and more. It can take a minute to figure it out, but it’s only because there are so so so many options! And trust me, that’s a good problem to have.
It molds to you.
Obviously, you want to make the process of booking and working with you as easy as possible for your clients. Dubsado lets you do that with simple, user-friendly proposals and forms, easy to sign contracts, and the ability to pay online seamlessly. But unlike other systems where you’re limited by the cookie cutter form fields they offer, Dubsado gives you the ability to create your own custom fields that (once completed) can be mapped to other Dubsado forms and into canned emails later on. Let me break this one down with a couple examples, because this is huge.
On your DJ services questionnaire, you could ask for the time your client plans to start the reception, what time introductions will be, what time the toasts will take place, what time the cake cutting will take place, and more, and then map those times into an email confirmation sent to the client the week of the wedding. Or on your wedding cake questionnaire, you can ask for the client’s cake flavor, icing flavor, number of guests, etc. and it’ll be readily available and super visible for you when you start to bake. Or if you’re a photographer who uses a second shooter, you can use an internal field for that, so that you don’t lose track of who you have booked for which wedding. Seriously, there’s unlimited potential.
Automate, automate, automate.
I’m a big believer in a healthy balance of both automated and personal touches with my clients. There’s a time and place to be really hands-on. And there’s a time and place to step back and let your system fill in the gaps. And that’s where Dubsado’s workflow automations come into play big-time.
You can automate a response when someone fills out your lead capture form. You can automate a “welcome” email or onboarding questionnaires based on when a client signs their contract and pays their deposit. You can automate emails or forms based on the project date (like the wedding date, for example). You can fill the space between booking and the wedding day with automated emails that serve and encourage your clients (on autopilot). You can automate your payment reminders. SO MANY OPTIONS.
The client portal.
This one is a game-changer. In Dubsado, you can give your clients their own personal client portal that serves as their central hub for all things related to working with you. Your proposals, contracts, invoices, forms, questionnaires, PDFs, links, and more can be added to the portal, to be accessed by your clients via a link or portal login area embedded onto your business website. And the best part… you can AUTOMATE YOUR PORTAL SETUP with a workflow. Yep, you read that right. You can set the portal to activate and send ALL of that client info to the portal automatically, based on a trigger that you choose. Can we talk about how LEGIT you will look to your clients?!
